I've been such a terrible blogger recently but with all thats been going on in person (announcement soon to come!) I haven't really had the time! I have a new job as an Alumni Representative for the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and I've been working with Kyla of Lost and Find on a few projects and they've been taking up most of my time. I think I just need to get in the rhythm of things again after vacationing (and being lazy and sick).

Peaks Island

Yesterday Ismail and I spent the morning on Peaks Island which is just a 15 minute ferry ride from Portland. We've could not have asked for better weather! It was in the mid 70's all day with a slight sea breeze--beyond perfect! Although I've been to Peaks many times since a lot of my good friends lived on in while we were in High School, it was Ismail's first time on the island.

OUTFIT
His:

Vintage Oxfords - Thrifted

Hers:

Leopard Print Sandals - Target
Kate Spade Purse - Gift
Coral and Gold Necklace - TJ Maxx

It's always nice to go with someone who is a tourist because you end up rediscovering the beauty of places you take for granted. We rented bikes from a little shop off of the main street and spent the afternoon biking around the island discovering little hidden away beaches I'd never been to before. It was the perfect way to spend an early autumn day.

Roy Lichtenstein Exhibit

Appologies for the lack of blog updates (the giveaway winner will be announced tonight!) but this weekend two of my bestfriends came to visit me from Maine and we didn't have an extra moment to spare. We were constantly on the go from shopping on the magnificent mile & getting drinks at The Wit to exploring smaller neighborhoods like Andersonville and Uptown.

 OUTFIT
Lavender Peplum Shirt: H&M
Black Satin Shorts: Target
Leopard Print Sandals: Target
Belt: Thrifted
Coral Bubble Necklace: Jcrew
Michael Kors Horn Watch: Gift from Ismail

On Sunday we decided (along with the rest of Chicago) to go to the Art Institute to check out the Roy Lichtenstein exhibit since it was closing that weekend. The line to get into the museum stretched down a block Michigan avenue and around the corner! Holy cow. Thankfully, I knew how to sneak in through SAIC's entrance (hehe) and after waiting for 40 minutes in the actual exhibit line - we were in! Boy, was it worth it! The exhibit was fairly full but there were about 5-8 pieces in each room so it felt spacious. Lichtenstein's work is wonderful bold, full of color (!) and graphic lines. It really resonates well with most audiences because of it's beauty. I really enjoyed the details of his pieces and his takes on other artist's pieces.

Sadly the exhibit closed on Monday but the Art Institute does have a few of his pieces in their permanent collection in the Modern Wing so if you're ever in the city be sure to check them out!
