Little Winnie

Well this is the first week of work on Winnie, our little camper. Above is her before state and below is in progress. It's pretty chaotic trying to get her finished and ready before our first show on April 21st - but it will all be worth it in the end! We're so excited to share with you guys the final look! For now, keep up with our redo on our instagram page: @LostGirlsVintage

Holy mess! We will be working on it all day today and for the next two weeks. Wish us luck!

Road Trip to Nashville!

This weekend Leilani, Kyla, and I drove down to Nashville from Chicago for Leilani's birthday.  We left at 5 am on Saturday and got there at 2pm so we made pretty good time! But this was the first time the three of us spent this much time in a car... so needless to say, things got a little wacky.
As we all love vintage so much the second we got into the city we headed straight to the Nashville Flea to do some quick shopping before it closed. I always love seeing the different markets in cities other than Chicago because the variety of vendors is so different. There were far more furniture and nic-nac dealers than clothing-- which is very different from markets here. Most of the markets in Chicago are pretty well balanced as far as clothing, jewelry, and furniture go.

Kyla, being the token country girl, fell in love with all the western style pieces from cowboy boots to bolos and western shirts. Leilani picked up some jewelry and she ended up buying two turquoise spools of yarn.

I picked up this beautiful 1980s Neiman Marcus fruit necklace from the sale from the original owner. Isn't it the greatest? I've been drawn to fruit so much! I also picked up a few pieces for my apartment (not the deer and buck below though!) and some dresses for Lost Girls Vintage.

We had dinner at Loveless Cafe, a famous Nashville spot known for its smokehouse BBQ, fried chicken, and biscuits. I tried their fried chicken with creamed spinach and fried green tomatos. Hands down, best fried chicken I've ever had. So delicious.

Leilani snapped these photos of me before we headed out for our day.

Thankfully it didn't rain much on our first day and I was able to wear this cute spring dress. No such luck the rest of the weekend though! I'll post more about our trip later this week. Hope you're all doing well!

Spent my day off running around the snowy city with Kyla picking up the last pieces for the spring photoshoot we're doing this Sunday for our lookbook. It's going to be all 60's and pastel, full of ice cream, candy, pastries and deliciousness. Kyla was nice enough to snap these pictures of me towards the end of our day of shopping.

Lost Girls Vintage: Our New Mobile Shop!!

Lots of exciting things have been going on this winter! Kyla and I finally bought our RV that we're completely gutting to turn it into a mobile vintage shop! We are planning on touring the nation this summer with it.

Here's little Winnie - she's a 1976 mini Winnebago. Isn't she darling? Okay, so she has lot of character, but that's what makes her special. We're painting the outside and redoing the interior ourselves so I'll be sure to update you guys on how it's going. We just need to plan our summer tour now!

Oh yeah! The collaborative name of our shops is Lost Girls Vintage.  It's a play on Peter Pan's Lost Boys. Kawtar, my sister, joked that people are going to be constantly trying to give us directions.

We took little Winnie to The Vintage Bazaar this past weekend and although we didn't sell out of her it was nice to be able to use our own vehicle to transport our things rather than stressing about renting a car. She made quite the impression trucking down busy Chicago streets at 15mph.

Here's a few shots from our set up at The Vintage Bazaar this past weekend:

Gluten and Sugar free Cereal

Hi guys! I've recently cut out sugars and carbs from my diet and I've been sharing some of my yummy meals on Instagram - this one got a lot of interest so I thought I'd post the recipe here!

Keto and Paleo friendly Flax seed Cereal
1 cup of flax seed
1 cup of finely crushed almonds
1 cup of sweetener (honey, stevia, apple juice etc - I used water and sugar free syrup)
4 tbs of cinnamon
2 tbs of vanilla
1/2 of almond slices
1/2 of coconut flakes

Mix all of the dry ingredients together. Slowly add in the sweetener and mix. You can manually mix in the ingredients or use a food processor.
Spread the mixture on a parchment lined cookie sheet. Used another piece of parchment paper to spread out the mixture as flat as possible.
Bake for 15 minutes at 350 degrees
take the cookie sheet out and using a pizza cutter or knife to cut it into square pieces about the size of your keyboard.
Bake for an additional 10 minutes at 250.
Let cool
Break pieces apart then mixed in the almond slices and coconut flakes. Bake for an additional 20 minutes at 200. You're trying to dry it out to create the crunch. Time will vary depending on the type of flax seed you use.

This should make 12 servings.

Enjoy with unsweetened almond milk and some berries!

Welcome to Miami

Last weekend I was lucky enough to see one of my close friends, Veronica, marry a wonderful man. Double lucky because it was in Miami - in January! What a break from this cold Chicago winter. (alright, it hasn't been that bad, but nothing will beat 85 degrees on the beach) The ceremony was outdoors  and beautiful with very simple touches - like the mason jars with simple white flowers and ribbon. It was just before sunset so the lighting was perfect. Veronica walked to Pachelbel's Canon and I, of course, cried like a baby. I can't help it. I'm a sucker for weddings.

Neon Pink Dress - Old Navy ($8!)
Seafoam bubble necklace - Whole Sale Jewelry store
Sequin Clutch - Ebay
Michael Kors Horn Watch - Gift from Ismail
Pastel and Nude Shoes - Guess via DSW

Small story behind this dress - I went out with Ismail in hopes of finding a dress to wear for Veronica's wedding - and we stopped by Old Navy to pick up some jeans for him and they had this dress on super sale! I tried on my size and it didn't fit. I tried on the larger size in purple and it was way too big. So I tried on the pink one again, but a different dress, and it fit. The first one was sized wrong. I'm not very sure if that made any sense! But anyway! I'm just glad I got it! I was also amazed at finding such a fun dress so quickly - and at Old Navy no less.

I'll post the rest of my trip later on this week or early next week! Hope you guys are having a great start to the new year!
