About

Chicago-based milliner Sarah Azzouzi is a graduate of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago holding a Bachelor in Fine Arts with a concentration in millinery and textile design. Using heat press techniques, embossing, and screen-printing on materials varying from straw, rabbit felt, and sinamay, Azzouzi strives to create headwear fit for every taste/personality.

Zzouzi Hats combine art and function, experimenting with fabric manipulation that channel Azzouzi's experiences in fiber sculpture and garment making. Through her work, Azzouzi seeks new and innovative design through vintage and alternative inspiration, drawing from personal and cultural histories.

Boasting awards such as the SAIC Dean's Hat Award and the Raymond Hudd Millinery Award for Best Hat, Azzouzi is quickly building interest in the local and national fashion community. Zzouzi hats have been actively present in Chicago's art and crafts scene, displayed in galleries across Chicago such as FLATfile, Tom Robinson, and the Siragusa Gallery at SAIC. Other shows have included an exhibition by the Drake Hotel, SAIC's Spring BFA Show, and Fleurotica 2010 at the Garfield Park Conservatory. Zzouzi Hats have also been featured on several blogs and publications, such as RedEye Chicago, Hat Life, and Chicago Social.

Sarah has also recently expanded Zzouzi Hats to include Handmade and Vintage items of all sorts. Please keep an eye out for upcoming shows, events, and postsings!
